Legend tells that many years ago, during a bloody battle to protect a strategic fort, a noble knight's life was saved by his trusted steed who galloped and leaped to take a poisoned arrow that would have surely felled its master. The good horse was slain that day, but its sacrifice changed the tide of battle, allowing the valiant knight to protect the citadel and drive the evil invaders back into their shadowy dwellings. After the conflict was won, the knight never forgot the loyalty and sacrifice of his equine companion. As so, in his next quest, he journeyed beyond the edges of the mortal world, seeking an audience with the Gods for the opportunity to petition that his steed's selflessness and courage be honored forever... Time has passed, and today, the once contested citadel is but a ruin on top of a hill, but at night, travelers crossing the valley can look to the dark skies and see a radiant constellation of bright stars: "Hareth", the Shield, a valiant war horse reared up in shining light, protectively guiding the way for all who wander beneath its stars.
