We are living through a convergence of crises: war, ecological breakdown, inequality, racism, authoritarianism, economic insecurity and the erosion of institutions and assumptions that once seemed permanent. The design cannot list them all ...

It is tempting either to retreat into despair or to believe that individual goodwill alone can somehow put things right. Neither feels adequate.

This design sits deliberately in that uncomfortable space between collapse and possibility, resistance and construction, struggle and solidarity. This is where I find myself ...

It does not offer a simple answer. Perhaps we are witnessing the breakdown of an old order. Perhaps we are also witnessing the possibility of something new being built.

The question is what we do in the meantime — and whether we can resist what must be resisted while building the world we want to live in.

The old world is dying. Can we respond in a way that lessens the suffering of people and planet?
