Impressionistic Morning at the Preserve Canvas Print

by dfishbac
I began this impressionistic landscape on location at the Shaw Nature Preserve near St. Louis, Missouri—part of the world‑famous Missouri Botanical Garden. The scene glows with a vibrant harmony of reds, greens, blues, and soft pinks, capturing the shifting light and living color of the preserve.
On the right side of the canvas, you’ll find a glimpse of the historic Bascom House, a red‑brick, two‑story modified Italianate‑Victorian home built in 1879 by former Confederate Colonel Thomas William Bouldin Crews. Once the center of one of the five working farms purchased by the Missouri Botanical Garden in 1925, the home adds a sense of heritage and story to the peaceful natural setting.
This canvas print is created from an original oil painting by Daniel Fishback, blending expressive brushwork, on‑location energy, and a timeless appreciation for Missouri’s landscapes and history.
